The library with its literature stock and various information
technologies is the main source of providing necessary information for
teachers and students. It is an important structural component of the
university which is used for studying, scientific and informational purposes.
The library of European University in Ternopil is located in the main
studying building at Bandera Street, 83. It provides students with more
than 9000 scientific publications. The library resources are filled with
the newest books and manuals necessary for learning all university subjects.
The number of books covering the major problems of economics and finance,
management and business, information systems and technologies, law and
politics is constantly growing. Moreover, some stock in the library is
presented by electronic means. In general, the library provides 80% of
literature necessary for studying purposes, which corresponds to the
norms of licensing criteria in Ukraine.
To enrich the library’s resources, hundreds of books and manuals
edited by the leading publishing houses were bought. The university’s
publishing
house also serves as an essential source in this process. There are
a lot of books written by the teachers of the European University
in Ternopil.
The library’s resources are presented both in printed and electronic
versions. The electronic library is available for all teaching staff
of the university. Students also use it, predominantly for writing
their individual research works and course papers.
The majority of books and manuals presented in the library were published
between the years 2000 and 2005. A great number of publications by
different authors give the students the opportunity to get to know
viewpoints of
leading scientists and avoid one-sided interpretation.
Teachers and students are provided with periodicals too. The library
subscribes to a number of newspapers, such as: “Government Courier”,
“Work and Salary”, “Free Life”, “Law Digest”, “New Ternopil Newspaper
, “Computer Sciences”, “Education of Ukraine”, “Arguments and Facts”,
“Investing Newspaper”. There are also a lot of magazines: “Economics,
Finance and Law”, “Computer Overlook”, “Fire security”, “Ukrainian
Historical Magazine”, “All about Accountancy”, “Reference Book for
a Clerk of a
Personnel Department”, “The secretary-adviser”, “Science of Languages”,
“Practical Psychology and Pedagogics”, “Economics of Ukraine”, “Marketing
in Ukraine”, “Bulletin of Ukraine’s National Bank”, “Bulletin of National
Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”, “Theory and Methods of Physical Up-Bringing”,
“Memoranda of Ukraine: History and Culture”, “Management and Staff”,
“Higher Education in Ukraine”, “Foreign Languages”, “Foreign Languages
in Studying Institutions”, “Law in Ukraine”, “Science and Society”,
“Finances of Ukraine”, “Burning Issues of Economics” and “Life security”
(Names
translated from Ukrainian).
In the university library there is an electronic catalogue which includes
the database of all books available. There are also alphabetic and
thematic catalogues.
The library often organizes different book exhibitions and meetings
with representatives of publishing houses.
The librarians of the university are working on the computerizing of
all the library’s processes. Students are given necessary information
concerning the library’s work and proper usage of its printed and electronic
resources.
The library has a new concept of its further development alongside
an elaborated set of responsibilities and regulations for the readers.
